Tracing the qualities of exporting fruits to Canada has been accomplished three times. The first and second times were performed on April 11 and April 18, 2004 that include guava, carambola, loquat, waxapple and golden mushroom. The loading pattern of the fruits transported in mechanical refrigerated container was guava in the front; waxapple and loquat in the middle; and carambola and golden mushroom at the end. The temperature of container was 2 ℃ but the actual temperatures in the fiberboard box containing fruits was 2.89 ℃ for the first times and 2.03 ℃ for the second times. The qualities of fruits on arrival were as follows: waxapple had apparent chilling injury, the quality seriously deteriorated, and evenly off-flavor produced. On the April 19, when it was the third time tracing, the temperature was set at 10 ℃ and pineapple in the front and waxapple in the middle and pineapple at the end of container. The actual temperatures for waxapple was 7.03 ℃, pineapple was 7.8 ℃. The quality of waxapple was better compared to the previous two tracings but still damaged by too low temperature, suggesting this temperature is not suitable for the storage and transportation of waxapple fruits. |
